The Epstein files has been one of the biggest political stories in the United States for the past few years now, but it has especially accelerated since Donald Trump won the last election, as it was a key campaign promise to reveal the names within.
However, to say that hasn’t happened would be a bit of an understatement as the Trump administration has done just about everything in its power to prevent the release of the files, going even as far to claim that they don’t exist in the first place.
Many have speculated that President Trump, alongside a number of powerful names in America, are among those present in Epstein’s ‘little black book’, to the point where Elon Musk even shockingly claimed that was true amid his spat with the president earlier this year.
The end of the recent government shutdown has seemingly opened the floodgates of the Epstein investigation though, as three key emails released by House Democrats appear to suggest that Trump was far more involved than he claimed, leaving much of his supporter base in a crisis.
Among those who might want to look what at what they’ve said before is Vice President JD Vance himself, as past tweets made in 2021 reflect rather poorly on how his political party has dealt with the files this year.
“What possible interest would the US government have in keeping Epstein’s clients secret? Oh…” Vance wrote following a deal made between the Department of Justice and Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell to keep her book of contacts private, and it certainly doesn’t look great when that same thing has been happening to an even greater scale across the last few months.
Vance also added that “if you’re a journalist and you’re not asking questions about this case you should be ashamed of yourself. What purpose do you even serve?”
Not only has the Republican party voted down key petitions that would see the Epstein files released, but many claim that House Speaker Mike Johnson deliberately delayed swearing in Adelita Grijalva after her congressional victory in Arizona’s 7th district as she would provide the tie-breaking vote, although she has now finally made her way into government.
The aforementioned emails themselves appear to suggest that Trump ‘knew about the girls’ as he asked Ghislaine to stop, and that one of the victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking operations ‘spent hours’ with Trump at the financier’s house.
They also note that Trump is the ‘dog who hasn’t barked’, and that Epstein could assert ‘political and PR power’ over the president before he was first elected, presumably due to his alleged involvement and association with the convicted child sexual offender.
The White House was quick to respond to these emails, and the further 20,000 that were released by the House Oversight Committee, arguing that it was an effort to “smear” the president, but it’s certainly not a good look for Trump or any of his associates that have attempted to prevent the release of these files, especially when Vance’s past posts make that hypocrisy abundantly clear.
