WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – On Friday, President Donald Trump asked the Department of Justice to investigate convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein’s ties to prominent Democrats and financial institutions.

The president wrote in a post on Truth Social, that he is directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Epstein’s alleged ties to former President Bill Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, the bank J.P. Morgan Chase and “many other people and institutions…”
The order came just two days after Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released a series of private e-mails in which Epstein claimed that the president knew about Epstein’s victims.
Pres. Trump has denied that he knew about Epstein’s crimes. He also has not presented any evidence that links the people he named to Epstein’s sex trafficking.
In the past, former President Clinton has also denied knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
Hoffman said in a series of posts on X Friday night that he was not a client of Epstein’s and wants President Trump to release all of the Epstein files.
“I want this complete release because it will show that the calls for baseless investigations of me are nothing more than political persecution and slander. I was never a client of Epstein’s and never had any engagement with him other than fundraising for MIT,” he wrote.
In a statement, J.P Morgan Chase spokesperson Patricia Wexler said, “The government had damning information about his crimes and failed to share it with us or other banks. We regret any association we had with the man, but did not help him commit his heinous acts. We ended our relationship with him years before his arrest on sex trafficking charges.”
The president also claimed in his post that Democrats are using the Epstein e-mails as a distraction from the government shutdown that Trump claims they caused.
On Friday afternoon, Attorney General Bondi announced in a post on X that she had assigned a prosecutor to carry out the inquiry and wrote, “…the Department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.”
Thank you, Mr. President. SDNY U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton is one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country, and I’ve asked him to take the lead. As with all matters, the Department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American… pic.twitter.com/5zlybVu44U
