As the Trump administration ramps up military pressure near Venezuela, we’ve just seen a terrifying warning of how dangerous this buildup already is.
A JetBlue flight departing Curaçao for New York was forced to abruptly stop its climb to avoid a midair collision with a U.S. Air Force KC-46 refueling tanker. According to the pilot, the military aircraft had no transponder turned on, leaving nearly 200 civilians at risk. The pilot called the incident “outrageous.”
Meanwhile, Congress is growing alarmed. Lawmakers from both parties are now pushing legislation that would force a vote before any military action against Venezuela moves forward.
The Trump administration claims these operations are about stopping drugs, but critics say the real goal is regime change — and oil. Venezuela holds the world’s largest oil reserves, and history shows how disastrous these so-called interventions can be.
Even more disturbing, lawmakers have viewed classified footage showing U.S. forces striking men clinging to a burning boat after an initial attack — actions some members of Congress say could amount to war crimes.
