“Listen, Donald Trump has dehumanized people of color for decades. I want y’all to understand this is who he is. This is an actual feature of what it is to be Donald Trump instead of a flaw,” Crockett said at a shadow hearing of the House Oversight Committee on Trump’s immigration abuses.
“He demanded the execution of innocent Black boys,” Crockett continued. “He has been sued many times for racial discrimination. He called African nations sh*thole countries.”
In 1989, Trump infamously called for the execution of the “Central Park Five,” innocent Black boys who were falsely accused of attacking a white woman. He reportedly paid $85,000 for ads in four newspapers, including the New York Times, calling for the death penalty and never issued an apology even after the boys were exonerated.
“He said that ‘immigrants poison the blood of our country’ and he’s repeatedly refused to denounce white supremacy,” Crockett said. “In fact, he’s hired many white supremacists to work in this administration and now they’re carrying out this racist and violent mass deportation and it is destroying our country. LA, we stand with you and we stand with the rest of this country. Thank you so much.”
One need only look at Stephen Miller, the architect of Trump’s cruel mass deportation program, to see the truth in Crockett’s words. It can be easy in the back-and-forth over policies and newly blossoming scandals to lose track of the truth about Donald Trump. He is a stone cold racist. All of his immigration policies come back to that fact and it’s crucial that we remind the American people at every opportunity.
